Puerto Rico Legal Code
Chaplain candidates shall comply with the following requirements under this subchapter:(a) A theological education or education from a duly accredited institution.(b) Ordination as a minister, priest, or rabbi duly certified by their respective faith group, which must be incorporated in the Department of State, or in default thereof, properly completed theological education or coursework in chaplaincy.(c) A criminal record certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Police Department.(d) A health certificate(e) Availability and accessibility to respond to any type of incident or event management.(f) Sensitivity towards the emotional and spiritual needs of the person in a crisis, emergency, accident, or disaster situation.(g) Disposition to take continuing education courses and training in critical incident stress management, counseling, and emergency management, in addition to any other subject related to chaplaincy services.
