Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter, or who engages in the profession of private detective, or operates an 'agency' without a license issued in accordance with this chapter; or who falsely represents him/herself as a private detective or an employee of an 'agency', or who discloses information in violation of the provision of § 285q of this title, and any person who hires the services of a private detective or 'agency', knowing that such detective or 'agency' does not hold a license issued in accordance with this chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both penalties, fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.
