When a member of the Force is sued in any proceeding of civil nature arising as a result of the performance of his/her duties, or of any incident which occurs while he/she is acting in his/her official capacity and within the range of his/her duties, the Superintendent shall assign the services of an attorney to assist him/her during the proceedings. This provision shall not apply when a criminal prosecution is instituted followed by disciplinary action against the member of the Force.\nHistory —June 10, 1996, No. 53, § 24, eff. July 1, 1996.
