For the purposes of this chapter, a Police veteran shall only be that personnel who has been honorably retired or discharged after having served for a minimum term of five (5) years in the Police of Puerto Rico. Members of the Police who become physically or mentally disabled as a result of an accident or health condition directly directed to the performance of their official duties and who have been retired honorably, are hereby exempt from the requirement of fulfilling the minimum five (5) years of service.\nHistory —June 30, 1959, No. 93, p. 268, § 5; June 13, 1998, No. 84, § 1.
