If the birth is acknowledged by only one of the parents, it shall be the Registry of Vital Statistics’ obligation to register the birth stating both surnames of the only parent to recognize it, if so requested by said father or mother at the moment it is registered.If after the registration there were an intention of voluntary acknowledgement, the Registry of Vital Statistics shall have the obligation of substituting the father’s or mother’s surname pursuant to the evidence presented.
