When an adult subject to involuntary admission abandons the institution without having been released, the director shall immediately notify a police officer so that he/she may be apprehended and returned to the institution. In addition, he/she shall notify the adult’s family, legal guardian and the person who requested his/her admission.When an adult subject to voluntary admission abandons the institution without having been released, the director shall immediately notify the adult’s family member or legal guardian.
