The purpose of this chapter is to establish standards for the protection of the health information of covered persons or enrollees requiring health insurance organizations and issuers to establish procedures for the proper management of any health information generated, maintained, used or disclosed as part of their operations. Any provision of this chapter that is in conflict with the Privacy Rule of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, as amended, or any applicable federal law, shall be deemed amended to be consistent with the applicable federal law and rule.\nHistory —Aug. 29, 2011, No. 194, added as § 14.020 on Aug. 23, 2012, No. 203, § 1, eff. 90 days after Aug. 23, 2012.
