(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, this chapter shall apply to health plans that provide coverage for a dependent of a covered person or enrollee.(b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a group or individual health plan that provides coverage only for a specified disease, specified accident or accident-only coverage, credit, dental, disability income, hospital indemnity or other fixed indemnity coverage, vision care or any other supplemental benefit or a Medicare supplement policy, coverage under a plan through Medicare, Medicaid or the federal employees health benefits program, any coverage issued as supplemental to liability insurance, workers' compensation or similar insurance, automobile medical-payment insurance or any insurance under which benefits are payable with or without regard to fault.
