A pilot unnecessarily detained on board a ship shall be entitled to receive twenty-five dollars ($25) for each hour or fraction of hour so detained; and if not permitted to land but taken to sea against his will, he shall be entitled to a compensation equal to the salary earned by the first officer of the ship, but which shall in no case be less than fifty dollars ($50) daily, from the date the ship leaves port until the day he is permitted to land, plus the return trip expenses.\nHistory —June 28, 1968, No. 151, p. 459, § 4, art. 4.15, eff. 90 days after June 28, 1968.
