From and after the effective date of this act, no dam or reservoir shall be constructed, enlarged, modified or abandoned in Puerto Rico without obtaining the Unit’s permission and approval.Whenever the Unit determines that a private dam or reservoir is a hazard, it shall notify the owner or person in charge in writing by means of an order that includes the remedial measures that he must take, and fixing a prudent term to execute them. The owner or person in charge of each dam or reservoir shall be responsible for carrying out the remedial measures that have been pointed out to him, and perform additional complex studies that may be required of him within the term he has been granted.
