(1) Be 18 years of age or older.\n(2) Be a person of good moral repute.\n(3) Have a negative Criminal Record Certificate issued by the Police of Puerto Rico within the six (6) months prior to the filing date of the application for a license.\n(4) Hold a diploma certifying that he/she has [passed] the fourth year of high school or its equivalent.\n(5) Have [passed] an emergency medical technician paramedic course, offered by an academic institution accredited by the General Education Council or the Council on Higher Education, based on the national curricula established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for this course, or from an institution recognized by the corresponding accrediting body entitled to do so, and accepted by the Department.\nAs of the year two thousand (2000), the Secretary may require every person who desires to obtain an emergency medical technician paramedic license to have satisfactorily completed an Associate Degree in Medical Emergencies offered by an accredited university institution.
