Any roof waterproofing, coating and repair contractor to whom the Board has not granted a license to practice in Puerto Rico as a contractor of the services regulated herein or in any way misrepresents him/herself as such, or uses words, letters, phrases, abbreviations or insignias that may identify him or her as a roof waterproofing, coating or repair contractor, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction by a competent court shall be imposed a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor greater than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or punished by imprisonment for a term of not less than three (3) months nor greater than one (1) year, or both penalties, at the discretion of the court.\nThe Secretary of Justice, on his or her own initiative or by request of the Board, may process before the court the corresponding criminal suit for the illegal practice of the roof waterproofing, coating and repair trade in Puerto Rico.\nThis chapter does not apply to persons who without holding a supervised license render voluntary or free services to nonprofit institutions or organizations or to persons employing other persons as laborers to render any services at their home or

out holding a supervised license render voluntary or free services to nonprofit institutions or organizations or to persons employing other persons as laborers to render any services at their home or property under the supervision of the former.
