For the purposes of this chapter, the terms listed hereinafter shall have the meanings expressed below:(a) College. — The College of Licensed Practical Nursing of Puerto Rico created by this chapter.(b) Licensed practical nursing. — A male or female person engaged in performing and practicing selective activities in benefit of injured or disabled patients that require ability and the judgment, but not the extent of knowledge required from the general and specialist nurses, or nurses working with doctors and dentists licensed to practice in Puerto Rico, and who, therefore, must perform and practice under the direction of the above-mentioned professionals.(c) Governing Board. — The Governing Board of the College of Licensed Practical Nursing of Puerto Rico created by this chapter.(d) Examining Board. — The Nursing Examining Board of Puerto Rico.(e) (L.P.N.).— The English initials of the term Licensed Practical Nurse, in Spanish, Enfermeras/os Practicas/os Licenciadas/os.(f) Regulations. — The College’s rules and bylaws. History —July 2, 1987, No. 86, p. 330, § 2, eff. 90 days after July 2, 1987.
