The Government of Puerto Rico recognizes that profession and trade accrediting and regulatory organizations of Puerto Rico, when measuring, assessing, and licensing education programs and the educational institutions that offer them, shall do so only in credit hours or only in clock hours when so requested by such educational institutions, as provided in the applicable federal regulations. The scope of this chapter establishes that any assessment and certification measures of the curricula of educational institutions that offer the same be required only in credit hours and without reference to clock hours whenever the institution requests to be measured, assessed, and licensed in credit hours. It is further established that any regulatory or accrediting entity or agency of the various professions and trades approves study requirements to take board examinations in either credit hours or clock hours depending on how the study program of the institution was approved.
