The Board shall offer total or partial licensure examinations in Puerto Rico at least twice (2) a year and pursuant to the norms to be established by the Board. This licensure examination shall be prepared by an external entity properly approved by the Board. The Board shall contract services for administering and evaluating the licensure examination. The procedure to be followed shall be established by regulation, with the proper safeguards to ensure security and confidentiality in the preparation as well as in administering and evaluating the licensure examination. Medical candidates shall have seven (7) years to pass said examination in its entirety-Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Practical Examination-with no limitation as to the number of times they can be tested for each part. The seven (7) year term shall begin to run as of the date the candidate passes any part of the examination for the first time. Provided, That when a student has failed four (4) times any of the parts of the licensure examination, he/she shall be under the obligation to meet continuing education requirements as determined by the Board before taking the licensure examination again.
