For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall govern:\n(a) Podiatric medicine. — A branch of medicine that refers to the diagnosis, treatment and study of the conditions that affect the human foot, and the related structures that govern it, including the manifestations of systemic conditions, through appropriate means.\n(b) Doctor of podiatric medicine. — A health professional that holds a degree of 'Doctor of Podiatric Medicine', obtained through a school of podiatric medicine accredited by the Podiatric Doctors Examining Board, and recognized by the American National Association of Podiatric Medicine. He/she examines, diagnoses, treats, prevents and cares for the diseases and conditions of the human foot, using medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and other knowledge, and scientific methods. They shall be authorized to practice in their private offices as well as in hospitals, health centers and in the home.\n(c) Board. — Podiatric Doctors Examining Board created by this chapter.\n(d) Secretary. — The person designated by the Secretary of Health to perform the functions of Secretary of the Podiatric Doctors Examining Board, created by this chapter.\n(e)
