The interns shall be undergraduate students enrolled in universities in the United States of America who have approved not less than half of the requirements necessary to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Moreover, the interns shall be of Puerto Rican descent, reside in the United States, demonstrate they have basic knowledge of Puerto Rico, and be able to speak read and write Spanish fluently. The interns thus selected shall receive compensation and stipends for lodging and transportation during their full-time work stay in the office of the member of the legislative body to which they are assigned.
