The division of motor vehicles shall issue special boat dealer’s plates as applied for, which shall bear the following: 'boat dealer'. The 'boat dealer' plates shall be used only on boat trailers used by the boat dealer in the course of his or her business. With respect to trailers, the provisions of this chapter regarding application for, operation with, and display of 'dealer’s plates' shall apply to boat dealer’s plates. Without limiting the general applicability of the preceding provisions, §§ 31-3-40 and 31-4-3 shall apply to boat dealers with respect to trailers.
