§ 37-6-20

In the event that the government of the United States of America does not participate with the state of Rhode Island in the payment of any funds to the claimant or claimants of an estate, then within sixty (60) days after the service of a certified copy upon the head of the acquiring authority, the owner of and any person entitled to any estate in or interested in any part of the land or other real property so taken shall confer with the state properties committee and, if at the expiration of ninety (90) days after the service of the certified copy upon the head of the acquiring authority, the owner of and person entitled to any estate in or interested in any part of the land or other real property so taken has not agreed with the state properties committee upon the price to be paid for his or her estate, right, or interest in the land or other real property so taken and the appurtenant damage to the remainder, he or she may proceed to the trial thereof in the superior court.
