The duties of the council, in addition to such other duties as may be requested by the Governor, shall be: (1) to provide advice and recommendations to the Governor on issues involving the use, handling, and management of the transportation, storage, or disposal of nuclear materials within South Carolina, or such use, handling, transportation, storage, or disposal of nuclear materials outside of the State which may affect the public health, welfare, safety, and environment of the citizens of South Carolina; (2) to provide advice and recommendations to the Governor regarding matters pertaining to the Atlantic Compact Commission; (3) to provide advice and recommendations to the Governor regarding the various programs of the United States Department of Energy pertaining to nuclear waste; (4) to meet at the call of the chair or at a minimum twice a year.
