(A) Pulpwood sold in South Carolina by weight must be based on the following weights as standard cord equivalents: (1) hardwood: (a) soft hardwoods: 5,450 pounds; (b) hard hardwoods: 6,200 pounds; (c) mixed hardwoods: 5,800 pounds; (2) pine: all counties: 5,350 pounds. (B) For purposes of this section hard hardwoods include oaks, hickorys, pecans, persimmon, ironwood, locusts, holly, dogwood, chinaberrys, and cherry. Others are classified as soft hardwoods. (C) A person violating this section, upon conviction, must be fined not more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days.
