§ 40-60-200

(A) It is unlawful for a person, directly or indirectly, to engage in or conduct the business of or to advertise or hold himself out as engaging in or conducting the business of or to act in the capacity of, an appraiser within this State without first obtaining a permit, license, or certification as provided in this chapter. (B) A person acting as an appraiser within the meaning of this chapter without a permit, license, or certification is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than six months, or both. (C) An appraiser who fails to renew a license or certification and who continues to engage in appraisal activities or business is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
