(A) There is created in the Medical University of South Carolina the Diabetes Outreach Council with three members appointed by the president of the university. (B) The Diabetes Outreach Council shall oversee and direct efforts in patient education and primary care including: (1) promoting adherence to national standards of education and care; (2) ongoing assessment of patient care costs and reimbursement issues for persons with diabetes in South Carolina; (3) preparing an annual report and budget proposal for submission to the Diabetes Initiative of South Carolina Board.
