Oath or affirmation of allegiance required--Aliens excepted.No certificate may be issued unless the applicant is a United States citizen and takes an oath or affirmation to support the Constitutions of the United States and of the State of South Dakota or unless the applicant is a legal alien. The department shall keep a copy of the oath on file. A legal alien employed by a school district is not required to file an oath or affirmation of allegiance. The secretary may administer the oath or affirmation required under this chapter.
