Acceptance of gift from party to action as misdemeanor--Inheritance excepted.Every judicial officer, juror, referee, arbitrator, or umpire, who accepts any gift from any person, knowing him to be a party in interest, or the attorney or counsel of any party in interest to any action or proceeding then pending or about to be brought before him, is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. The word 'gift' as used herein shall not be taken to include property received by inheritance, by will, or by gift in view of death.
