Police powers of division personnel.The assistants appointed by the attorney general shall have, in any part of the state, the same powers with respect to the enforcement of law as sheriffs, constables, police, and peace officers and may execute any warrant of arrest issued by any magistrate or court of competent jurisdiction within the state. It shall be the duty of said assistants of the attorney general to act in all parts of the state in the detection, apprehension, arrest, and prosecution of anyone violating any of the criminal laws of the state when so directed by the attorney general, except as provided by §23-3-11.
