Section 3-11-1 - Legislative policy

Legislative policy.In order to extend to the officers and employees of the State of South Dakota and its political subdivisions and to the dependents and survivors of such officers and employees the basic protection accorded to others by the federal old age and survivors insurance system embodied in Title II of the federal Social Security Act, as amended, it is hereby declared to be the policy of the Legislature, subject to the limitations of this chapter, that steps be taken to provide such protection to the officers and employees of the State of South Dakota and its political subdivisions on as broad a basis as is permitted under Title II of the federal Social Security Act, as amended.
