Rest areas and facilities--Commercial accommodations prohibited.The Department of Transportation may acquire and improve strips of land necessary for acquisition of publicly owned and controlled rest areas and sanitary and other facilities within or adjacent to the highway right-of-way reasonably necessary to accommodate the traveling public. However, the Transportation Commission may not expend any funds for the acquisition, construction or improvement of hotels, motels, restaurants, or other accommodations of like nature.
