Absence of Governor--Authority of National Guard commanders.If the Governor is absent or cannot be immediately communicated with, any civil officer named in §33-9-1 may, if the civil officer deems the occasion sufficiently urgent, apply electronically, telephonically, or in writing to the commanding officer of any unit of the National Guard, who may, upon approval by the adjutant general, if the danger is great and imminent, order out of the unit such South Dakota National Guard members as the commanding officer deems necessary to the assistance of the civil officer.
