Definition of terms.Terms used in this chapter mean:(1)'Health care procedure,' an act of diagnosis, treatment, or care to a patient for which compensation is or may be charged;(2)'Health care provider,' any licensed health care facility licensed pursuant to chapter 34-12 or any practitioner of the healing arts, including a physician licensed under chapter 36-4, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist, chiropractor, physical therapist, respiratory care practitioner, occupational therapist, or psychologist;(3)'Patient,' an individual who receives, or requests to receive, diagnosis, treatment, or care from a health care provider.
