Practitioners and officers exempt from chapter--Application to previously licensed physicians.The provisions of this chapter do not apply to commissioned physicians or surgeons of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Hospital Service or of the United States Veterans' Administration, or the United States Public Health Service in the actual performance of their duties nor to dentists in the legitimate practice of their profession, nor to Christian Scientists as such who do not practice medicine, surgery, or obstetrics by the use of any material, remedies, or agencies. Medical and osteopathic physicians, legally licensed in this state on July 1, 1949, need not pass the examination referred to in this chapter.
