Investigate by attorney general--Powers.The attorney general may, upon receiving a complaint, conduct an investigation under chapter 37-24 to determine whether any person has violated a provision of this chapter or chapter 37-30A. For the purpose of any investigation or proceeding under this section, the attorney general may administer oaths and affirmations, subpoena witnesses, compel their attendance, take evidence and require the production of any books, papers, correspondence, memoranda, agreements, or other documents or records which the attorney general deems relevant or material to the inquiry.
