Attorney general to examine titles and protect state's interest.It shall be the duty of the attorney general to make examination at each of the United States land offices of this state as to the condition of the titles to all school and public lands, and to take such steps before said land office of the United States and the Department of the Interior as may be necessary to protect the title of the state thereto and he may employ such clerical assistance as is requisite therefor.
