Liability insurance purchased by township.Any township in this state may, through its board of supervisors, when and to the extent deemed expedient by said board, obtain and pay for public liability insurance insuring the township, its board, officers, and employees from any and all claims for damages arising from or caused in the discharge, performance, or nonperformance of their duties or employment.
