Section 33-6-709 - Notification procedure for release from involuntary commitment

(a) As used in this section, 'local law enforcement' means the county sheriff with jurisdiction over the location where:(1) The service recipient permanently resides, if the service recipient is a resident of this state; and(2) The inpatient treatment facility is located, if the service recipient is not a resident of this state.(b) If a person is ordered into involuntary commitment under part 4 or 5 of this chapter and is to be released, then the chief officer of the releasing facility shall notify, by electronic means, local law enforcement prior to such release.Added by 2024 Tenn.
