The intent of §§ 37-1-604 - 37-1-615 is to provide for the investigation of child sexual abuse by the child protection team, and to provide for comprehensive protective services for sexually abused children found in the state by requiring that reports of each sexually abused child be made to the department and the office of the district attorney general in an effort to prevent further harm to the child or any other children living in the home and to preserve the family life of the parents and children, to the maximum extent possible, by enhancing the parental capacity for adequate child care.Acts 1985, ch. 478, § 5.
