Section 39-17-1312 - Inaction by persons eighteen (18)

(a) It is an offense if a person eighteen (18) years of age or older, including a parent or other legal guardian, knows that a minor or student is in illegal possession of a firearm in or upon the premises of a public or private school, in or on the school's athletic stadium or other facility or building where school sponsored athletic events are conducted, or public park, playground or civic center, and the person, parent or guardian fails to prevent the possession or fails to report it to the appropriate school or law enforcement officials.(b) A violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor.Acts 1992, ch. 907, § 1; 1999, ch. 309, § 1.
