Section 47-18-407 - Applicability of Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977 - Action by attorney general

(a) A violation of this part constitutes a violation of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977.(b) For the purpose of application of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977, a violation of this part constitutes an unfair or deceptive act or practice affecting trade or commerce and is subject to the penalties and remedies as provided in the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977, in addition to the penalties and remedies set forth in this part. However, no criminal penalty is incurred for violation of this part.(c) If the attorney general has reason to believe that any person has violated this part, then the attorney general may institute a proceeding under this chapter.Amended by 2021 Tenn.
