(a) The name of a domestic professional corporation and of a foreign professional corporation authorized to transact business in this state, in addition to satisfying the requirements of chapter 14 (except for § 48-14-101(a)(1)) and chapter 25 of this title:(1) Must contain the words 'professional corporation,' 'professional association,' or 'service corporation' or the abbreviation 'P.C.,' 'P.A.,' or 'S.C.'; and(2) May not contain language stating or implying that it is incorporated for a purpose other than that authorized by § 48-101-605 and its charter.(b) Chapters 14 and 25 of this title do not prevent the use of a name otherwise prohibited by those sections if it is the personal name of a shareholder or former shareholder of the domestic or foreign professional corporation or the name of an individual who was associated with a predecessor of the corporation.Acts 1992, ch. 698, § 1; T.C.A., § 48-3-609.
