Section 49-7-208 - Program - Recognition of university students for community involvement

(a) The executive director of the commission shall develop, implement and publicize a program to recognize university students who have a record of outstanding community involvement. The program shall honor students at both public and private two-year and four-year colleges and universities who have displayed a high level of community service, including volunteer work, community organization, public service, charitable service and leadership roles in these areas. The executive director shall conduct an annual program at which outstanding students are publicly recognized for community service. Nominations for recognition may be received from college and university administrators and teachers, students or members of the public. The executive director shall report the names and accomplishments of those recognized to the governor, general assembly, and press.(b) The award shall be known as the Representative Harold Love Outstanding Community Involvement Award.Acts 1991, ch. 26, § 1; 1997, ch. 92, § 1.
