Section 49-8-802 - Center on Aging - Victimization prevention program

(a) There is established, within Tennessee State University's Center for Aging, an extension of the center's program on the prevention and treatment of elderly abuse, neglect and criminal victimization. The program shall, upon request, receive technical assistance and support from the commission on aging and disability and the departments of human services, health, mental health and substance abuse services, and disability and aging. The program shall:(1) Collect data to quantify and document the problems of elderly abuse, neglect and criminal victimization;(2) Engage in prevention activities through presentations at churches, community centers, schools, senior citizen centers and other locations;(3) Conduct workshops for local and state employees and law enforcement personnel as well as for the elderly and their family members; and(4) Implement an advocacy program to assist victims in adequately and appropriately responding to and recovering from abuse, neglect and criminal victimization.(b) The program shall be implemented in Davidson and Wilson counties.(c) On or before December 31 of each year, a report shall be submitted to the governor and to each member of the general
