The board of trustees of the University of Tennessee, and each institution under its jurisdiction, shall not enter into any agreement or other arrangement for a merger or consolidation with a private institution of higher education without the authorization of the general assembly, acting through legislation, resolution or appropriations.Acts 1979, ch. 182, § 2; T.C.A., § 49-3331.
