Section 49-9-1001 - General provisions

(a) There is created and established by the state of Tennessee a branch of the University of Tennessee at Martin, to be known as The University of Tennessee at Martin.(b) The trustees of the University of Tennessee are given the same power, authority and discretion to prescribe and offer courses, curricula and degree programs, inaugurate and carry out all necessary supporting work and activities and award degrees of the University of Tennessee at the University of Tennessee at Martin as the trustees now have and exercise at the other colleges and schools of the University of Tennessee.(c) The University of Tennessee at Martin is authorized to allow qualified students from the counties of Fulton, Hickman and Graves in the state of Kentucky to enroll without payment of out-of-state tuition, on the condition that Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky continue to admit Tennessee residents from selected Tennessee counties to enroll at that institution without payment of out-of-state tuition as is being done at this time.Acts 1951, ch. 27, §§ 1, 2; 1957, ch. 3, § 1; 1967, ch. 14, § 1; 1976, ch. 584, § 1; T.C.A.
