The purpose of this part is to enhance the competitive position of the University of Tennessee for research and development funding and otherwise to facilitate expanded research and development activities at the university, the premier public research university in this state. The further purpose of this part is to facilitate the commercialization of university research outcomes and the transfer of research-generated technology from the university to commercial and industrial enterprises in furtherance of the economic development of this state. This part shall be liberally construed in conformity with its purposes.Acts 2000, ch. 784, § 1.
