Section 52-2-201 - Developmental disabilities planning and policy council and regional citizen-based planning and policy councils - Establishment - Duties

(a) The department shall establish a state developmental disabilities planning and policy council and a regional citizen-based planning and policy council, each composed of persons supported, family members of persons supported, advocates for persons supported, and other affected persons and organizations for each of the three (3) grand divisions of the state, as defined in title 4, chapter 1, part 2. For purposes of the state developmental disabilities planning and policy council, 'persons supported' means an individual with a developmental disability. For purposes of the regional citizen-based planning and policy councils, 'persons supported' means an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability.(b) The councils described in subsection (a) shall:(1) Advise the statewide planning and policy council on the desirable array of prevention, early intervention, treatment, and habilitation services and supports for persons supported and their families, and such other matters as the commissioner or the statewide planning and policy council may request; and(2) Provide information and advice to the department on policy, formulation of budget requests, and development and
