Section 55-17-104 - Terms of members - Vacancies - Oath of office

(a) The terms of the chair, and the manufacturer and the consumer members of the commission shall be coterminous with that of the governor making their appointment or until their successors are appointed and qualified.(b)(1) The terms of the industry members first appointed to the commission shall be as follows: those members appointed from the list submitted by the Tennessee Automotive Association who are appointed from the first, fourth and seventh congressional districts shall serve until June 30, 1956; the members appointed from the second, fifth and eighth congressional districts shall serve until June 30, 1958; and the members appointed from the third, sixth and ninth congressional districts shall serve until June 30, 1990; provided, that each member shall serve until a successor is appointed and qualified.(2) Thereafter, the term of office of each industry member of the commission other than the chair shall be for six (6) years.(3) In the event of the death, resignation or removal of any person serving as a member of the commission, the vacancy shall be filled by the appointment of the governor in the same manner heretofore prescribed for the unexpired portion of the
