Section 56-1-401 - Examination of companies by commissioner before granting of certificate to do business

Before granting certificates of authority to an insurance company to issue policies or make contracts of insurance, the commissioner shall be satisfied, by such examination and evidence as the commissioner sees fit to make and require, that the company is duly qualified under the laws of the state to transact business in the state.Acts 1895, ch. 160, § 4; Shan., § 3277; Code 1932, § 6091; T.C.A.
