Section 56-1-418 - Calculation of disability benefit reserves

The commissioner shall annually cause to be made, or require the insurer to make, calculations of policy and claim reserves for accident and health policies providing disability benefits as defined in § 56-2-201 on the basis of regulations the commissioner prescribes from time to time regarding minimum reserve standards and tables of mortality, morbidity, interest or other contingencies to be used to compute the reserves. From July 1, 1995, until the date of promulgation of rules and regulations, all calculations with respect to policy and claim reserves for accident and health policies providing disability benefits shall be made at a rate of interest not exceeding four and one half percent (4.5%) per annum.Acts 1976, ch. 507, § 1; T.C.A., § 56-144; Acts 1995, ch. 363, § 17.
