Section 56-2-401 - Alien government controlled companies excluded - Definition

(a) Any insurance company or other insurance entity that is financially owned or financially controlled by any alien or foreign government outside the continental limits of the United States or the territories of the United States is prohibited from doing any kind of insurance business in this state.(b) For the purposes of this section and §§ 56-2-402 - 56-2-404, 'alien or foreign government' means any foreign government or any state, province, municipality, or political subdivision of any foreign government, but does not apply to any insurance company organized under the laws of a foreign nation that is financially owned or financially controlled by the private citizens or private business interests of the foreign nation.Acts 1955, ch. 3, § 1; T.C.A., §§ 56-323, 56-228.
