Section 56-7-912 - Powers and duties of commissioner

(a) Within sixty (60) days of the filing of any item described in § 56-7-905(c), the commissioner shall approve the item unless it contains provisions that are contrary to this title.(b) The commissioner may adopt rules interpreting or making specific application of §§ 56-7-903 - 56-7-912, but has no power to vary or deviate from §§ 56-7-903 - 56-7-911 and this section, nor to extend the commissioner's power or jurisdiction to matters not provided for in §§ 56-7-903 - 56-7-912.(c) Notwithstanding subsection (b) or any other provision to the contrary, the commissioner may exempt credit life insurance for which no identifiable charge is made to the debtor from the application of §§ 56-7-903 - 56-7-911 and this section, if the commissioner finds that the application of §§ 56-7-903 - 56-7-911 and this section to the insurance is not necessary for the protection of insured debtors.Acts 1985, ch. 107, § 3.
